Overview
PiPER-Compatible Teleoperation After the Build
The kit includes 10 3D-printed structural parts and 7 RP6-U15H-M servos for the PiPER Mate. The arm weighs 500g when the build is complete; allow approximately 1–2 hours for hands-on assembly.
100Hz Teleoperation After the Build
When the build is complete, PiPER Mate delivers the same 400mm reach, 6+1 DoF, 100Hz teleoperation, joint mapping, and safety functions listed in the Specification.
LeRobot Compatibility After the Build
After the build, PiPER Mate remains PiPER-compatible and supports LeRobot, ROS 2 Humble, Python SDK workflows, and synchronized gripper control for teleoperation and robot learning.
Complete Tools for the Build
The box includes the required screw kit, threadlocker, woodworking clamps, mouse pad, base plate, UC-01 electronics, DC5521 power adapter cable, servo extension cable, and USB-A to USB-C cable. Follow the assembly guide step by step; no additional tool purchase is needed.
After the Build: Calibration
Before powering on, align each PiPER Mate joint to its zero-position mark by hand.
Open the Web-Based Control Interface and run one-click zero-point calibration.
Jog each joint in small increments to verify direction and range limits before teleoperation or demos.

Applications
Classroom Robotics
Hands-on robotic arm demos for university courses — students learn kinematics, control theory, and motion planning with real hardware. The PiPER Mate DIY kit turns assembly into a hands-on module — students build the arm before running teleoperation and control labs.
Batch-collect high-quality motion data for imitation learning and reinforcement learning — 12-bit encoders deliver clean, jitter-free trajectories. Assembling and calibrating PiPER Mate helps students understand joint mapping and zero-positions, keeping 100Hz trajectories clean.
Teleoperation Retrofit
Upgrade existing lab robotic arms with a low-cost leader-follower system — no full hardware replacement needed. Build the PiPER Mate leader from the kit to pair with existing PiPER-compatible systems at low cost.
Maker & STEM Demos
Interactive robot demos for maker spaces, science fairs, and public outreach — engaging, safe, and easy to set up. The from-parts build works as a workshop activity, with makers assembling the leader before live demos.
Algorithm Prototyping
Single-operator teleoperation for rapid validation of grasping, path planning, and AI robotics algorithms. Budget-limited teams can start with the PiPER Mate kit and scale up with assembled units later.
Part List
All mechanical parts, servos, fasteners and tools required for assembly are included — no extra purchase needed.
