CAN Bus Servo Web Configuration Tool
| Version | Supported Environment | Entry |
|---|---|---|
| V0.2.2 | Windows, macOS, Linux | Open Web Configuration Tool |
1. Tool Overview
This browser tool connects to CAN Bus servos through a UC-06 CAN/USB adapter. Scan servos, monitor their status, control motion, and configure parameters without installing a desktop application.
The interface has three pages: Servo Monitor, Motion Control, and Configuration. The Communication Frames panel at the bottom displays transmitted and received data frames.
For UART/RS-485 servos, use the UART/RS-485 Web Configuration Tool.
2. Before You Start
- Prepare a CAN Bus servo, a UC-06 CAN/USB adapter, a USB cable, and a suitable servo power supply.
- Connect CANH, CANL, and power according to the adapter and servo wiring instructions. Check the power polarity before switching on.
- Open the tool in desktop Chrome or Edge and connect the adapter to your computer by USB.
- Make sure the mechanism has enough room to move. Close other applications using the same serial port.
Warning
This tool requires Web Serial API support in a desktop browser. On the first connection, select the serial device in the browser dialog and allow access.
3. Servo Connection and Detection
- Click Connect and select the serial device corresponding to the UC-06 adapter.
- On the Servo Monitor page, select the CAN Baud Rate used by the servo. Serial communication between the tool and adapter is fixed at 1 Mbps; the CAN baud rate is selected separately.
- Set Start ID and End ID, then click Scan. The defaults are IDs 0–5 and 500 Kbps. Adjust these settings if your devices use different values.
- After scanning, the lowest online ID becomes the Active Servo automatically. To operate another servo, change the active servo ID at the top of the page.
- Monitoring, motion control, and configuration share this active servo ID. Click Disconnect when finished to release the serial port.
4. Common Configuration Functions
Status Monitoring
On Servo Monitor, click Refresh to read the multi-turn angle, turn count, firmware version, voltage, current, power, temperature, servo status, and CAN baud rate. Click Auto Refresh for continuous updates and Stop Refresh to stop them.
Motion Control
- On Motion Control, select single-turn or multi-turn angle mode.
- Choose Simple, Time-based Ramp, or Speed-based Ramp, then enter the target angle and the corresponding motion parameters.
- Click Start Move. To stop, choose Hold Torque, Release Torque, or Stop with Damping, according to the required behavior.
Independent Damping uses its own damping power setting, without using the position-move parameters above it. Damping power and stop damping power must be integers from 0 to 1000 mW.
Use Read Angle or Live Angle to view the current position. Clear Turn Count changes the multi-turn position reference. Reset Origin sets the current position as the new origin. Before either operation, make sure the mechanism has stopped and is at the correct position.
Parameter Configuration
- Open Configuration and click Read Servo Parameters. Parameters remain locked until they have been read.
- Review Basic Parameters, Protection, Motion Settings, Angle Limits, and PID Parameters. Edit a value, then click its Set button.
- Read the parameters again to verify the result. Read them again after changing the active servo ID as well.
When changing a servo ID, choose an unused value from 0 to 254. After changing the CAN baud rate, power-cycle the servo if the tool prompts you to do so. Servos on the same CAN bus must use the same baud rate.
Live Charts and Export
On Motion Control, click Start Sampling to view voltage, current, power, and temperature charts. Click Stop Sampling to stop recording and Export CSV to save the samples. Clear Data removes the current chart data.
5. FAQs
- Serial device not listed: Check the USB cable, adapter connection, driver, and browser support for serial access.
- Connection failed: Close other applications using the serial port. Reconnect the adapter and try again.
- No servos found: Check servo power, CANH/CANL wiring, CAN baud rate, scan ID range, and bus termination.
- Parameters cannot be edited: Read the active servo parameters first. Read them again after switching servos.
- Parameter write failed: Check the active servo ID, allowed parameter range, communication status, and displayed message. A baud rate change may require a power cycle.
- No data to export: Start live chart sampling before exporting a CSV file.
